Interior design is a multi-faceted profession in which creative and technical solutions are applied within a structure to achieve a built interior environment. These solutions are functional, enhance the quality of life and culture of the occupants, and are aesthetically attractive. Designs are created in response to and coordinated with code and regulatory requirements, and encourage the principles of environmental sustainability. The interior design process follows a systematic and coordinated methodology, including research, analysis and integration of knowledge into the creative process, whereby the needs and resources of the client are satisfied to produce an interior space that fulfills the project goals. The work of an interior designer draws upon many disciplines including environmental psychology, architecture, product design, and traditional decoration (aesthetics and cosmetics). They plan the spaces of almost every type of building including: hotels, corporate spaces, schools, hospitals, private residences, shopping malls, restaurants, theaters, and airport terminals. Today, interior designers must be attuned to architectural detailing including floor plans, home renovations, and construction codes. Some interior designers are architects as well. How can i start now to build a portfolio for interior design or Design and management? what should be included? Asked by Weirdo. - Tue May 20 15:05:40 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. All applicants must submit a portfolio consisting of 8 to 12 pieces of work including, but not limited to, drawings, paintings, photographs, digital media, or design. Q. I've been in more chain restaurants than I care to admit and they all seem to have the same interior design cues. A bunch of garage sale fodder is invariably nailed to the walls; old board games b-movie posters from the 50's...sometimes they'll go as far as to find memorabilia related to the area. There is a Ruby Tuesday's in my area that has items from the local university and high schools on the walls. Is there a name for that kind of design? Asked by Doc Trauma - Sun Jul 8 18:04:36 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Eclectic Groupings or Wall Hangings. Probably falls into the Shabby Chic or Nostagic Memorabilia Classification. Display and Gallery Walls have been around for centuries. Cracker Barrel is another one of those place where this style is prevelant.
