Education or teaching in the broadest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another. Etymologically the word education contains educare (latin) "bring up" which is related to educere "bring out", "bring forth what is within", "bring out potential" and ducere "to lead". Teachers in educational institutions direct the education of students and might draw on many subjects, including reading, writing, mathematics, science and history. This process is sometimes called schooling when referring to the education of teaching only a certain subject, usually as professors at institutions of higher learning. There is also education in fields for those who want specific vocational skills, such as those required to be a pilot. In addition there is an array of education possible at the informal level, such as in museums and libraries, with the Internet and in life experience. Many non-traditional education options are now available and continue to evolve. The right to education has been established as a basic human right: since 1952, Article 2 of the first Protocol to the European Convention on Human Rights obliges all signatory parties to guarantee the right to education. At world level, the United Nations' International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of 1966 guarantees this right under its Article 13. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What education it takes to be a police officer ? Q. I am 16 In school still Wondering what education it takes, do you have to be OP Eligible I know you can sit a tafe course but can i still reach my goals through that ??? Questions: What education ? Whats there pay ? What it takes ? Thank you for your time. Asked by James J - Mon May 5 04:32:06 2008 - - 6 Answers - 1 Comments A. All you need is to be 21 years old and pass a background investigation. You at least need a High School diploma but since you graduate HS at 18(generally) you should spend those 2 years or so getting an A.S. in Justice Administration from a nearby Community College or better yet get a Bachelors or even a graduate degree so that you can be promoted easier. The average pay throughout the USA is $47,000 but in major cities pay is around $54,000 a year. It takes a lot of patience and good judgment to be a police officer. A lot of people aren't going to like you for the fact that you are a Law Enforcement Officer but don't take it personally. Answered by Carlos - Mon May 5 05:20:21 2008 What is your philosophy of higher education? Q. I am trying to write a paper for one of my classes, and am having a hard time finding information on the topic. Our prof wants us to get others philosophies of higher education and evaluate them and come up with our own. However, when I search "philosophy of higher education" all I get is info on PhD programs! So, if you are a higher ed administrator or an educator, what is your philosophy of higher education, or what is your college's philosophy? Also if you have any tips on where to find this information, or better ways to search, please let me know! Thanks for your help! Asked by JayB - Wed Sep 5 10:57:31 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. One reason why you may not be finding anything specifically on this topic is because it is subjective and interpretive. My opinion is that higher education is fine if it has a practical application. For instance, practicing law or becoming a doctor but there are many other professions where this could hamper the individual. From a professional aspect, the worst Engineers I have ever had on my staff or worked with me are PhD's. Their minds are developed in such an analytical manner that they become dysfunctional. Also, this is compounded by people who achieve degrees all in the same field i.e. engineering. I think it is great from a science perspective but from management or operatability it is useless. I would rather see an… [cont.] Answered by thehazmater - Wed Sep 5 11:14:51 2007 What education or training is best to learn stock trade?
Q. I want to learn to trade stocks, do I need a certificate? What is the best way to learn to trade stocks? Do I need a formal education or can I do this on my own? I am deciding on a college? If you think college is best, which degree program? Asked by djostl - Sun Aug 5 15:43:01 2007 - - 3 Answers - 1 Comments A. Simple- open up an account. You pay for each trade that you make too. Well, you have to pay in general. Scottrade or Ameritrade are servers that offer stock trading. You need money though to buy stocks, sell them, and short them (for me the MOST important and MOST difficult). Don't need a certificate. Go do it on your own, business school teaches you this stuff but I saw from my dad that he learned it on his own completely. Go to investopedia.com to learn about the vocabulary. For college, they don't teach you ONLY this stuff. You have to take a lot of other courses so you can't exactly focus on just stocks. Mutual funds and bonds are involved too. All of this is called "investing" lol. Stock brokers might let you intern with… [cont.] Answered by cristal - Sun Aug 5 16:31:47 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Education"
